Globe is the only French Language journal which publishes articles about Québec society that are both interdisciplinary and international in nature. Though often referred to, interdisciplinarity is less commonly fostered in a concrete and continuous manner. Globe is one of the few places in Québec where this ambition is achieved and where interdisciplinary thought and practice are realized. Through each publication, the journal has constructed a reading of Québec that has contributed to the way in which this society can be thought of today. The plurality of views brought onto its subject naturally attracts the attention of foreign researchers who study Québec society. They consider Globe to be a window on contemporary research on Québec and a place where innovative research is synthesized.
Twice per year, Globe, International Journal of Québec Studies presents, in a pluridisciplinary manner, an issue pertaining to a particular topic on Québec culture and society. The issue is often completed with a « review essay » which provides an assessment of recent scientific production and, under the « perspective » heading, a text touching upon current debates or theoretical problems. Globe continues to regularly accept open topic articles. The journal concludes with a section of reviews and information on recent publications in Québec Studies.
Globe gathers specialists from all fields related to social sciences and humanities who are drawn to a pluri- or interdisciplinary perspective. Similarly, its readership is made up of researchers and students of all disciplines, from over 30 countries. Globe is also an essential reference for university professors who offer courses related to the study of Québec.
By virtue of its subject matter and approach, Globe holds a unique position among Québec’s academic journals.
